# Configuring the default network

> How do I configure the network? or a secondary network?

## Prerequisites

- Infuse-IoT Embedded SDK Installed
- Suitable Infuse-IoT hardware

## Network (primary)

Configuring the default network an Infuse-IoT device uses dependins on whether the application is a full release
or a debug build. [`CONFIG_INFUSE_SECURITY_DEFAULT_NETWORK`](https://docs.dev.infuse-iot.com/latest/kconfig.html#CONFIG_INFUSE_SECURITY_DEFAULT_NETWORK)
is the KConfig symbol used to specify the default network credentials to use (and is a path to the network key `.yaml` file).

By default `CONFIG_INFUSE_SECURITY_DEFAULT_NETWORK` is configured to the default network key `default_network.yaml`.
Great for quick debugging but not secure for normal use.
It's easy enough to create your own network, and use a different key instead.
To use it:

1. Navigate to the application's `prj.conf` you want to use the network key.
2. Add (or modify) `CONFIG_INFUSE_SECURITY_DEFAULT_NETWORK` and set it to the path of the desired network key metadata file.
3. Build and flash the application as normal.
